Pooky’s Wish

Has Become our Dream...

Life is life - whether in a cat, or dog
or man. There is no difference there
between a cat or a man. The idea
of difference is a human conception
for man's own advantage.

Pooky’s Wish is a nonprofit organization working to limit the euthanasia of adoptable canines through rescue, rehabilitation, and education. Our main focus is to save these canines from the South Eastern and South Central United States. We transport them to Oregon, where there is a not a considerable dog overpopulation rate relative to other states.  Some of these canines are highly adoptable, others suffer from a traumatic past, causing much emotional and social damage.  We take relatively few dogs per transport, because we want to have enough one on one time with each individual canine, in order to mold her into being as confident, mentally balanced, and as obedient as possible, prior to adoption.

Although this organization is dedicated to saving those who resemble primitive-like canines, primarily, we also save a variety of dog breeds and cats by way of animal rescue transportation.  These transports are coordinated by Pooky’s Wish, and volunteers throughout the country come together in order to drive a minimum of one hour to the next destination where they are expected to hand the animal(s) off to the next volunteer driver.  With the generous help of Pooky’s Wish volunteer drivers, other animal rescue transport organizations, and foster care providers throughout the country, we are able to safely transport an animal from a treacherous situation, to a place where she will find ultimate safety.  This place can either be a reputable humane society or no kill shelter, rescue group, or approved adoptive home.
